2023 - HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

Writer's picture: JanetJanet

As we approach the end of the year I just wanted to stop by and wish you all a very Happy New Year and thank you for your continued support of my writing! It means a lot to me to know there are people out there willing to listen to my ramblings…

Once again, thank you so much to those of you who have bought my book. I have had some wonderful feedback and support, I love to hear what you think, and I am very grateful to have been able to help several charities with the profits. I am also hoping to donate some of my books to charities that may benefit from them.

Is it me or are the years passing even more quickly? I think I must say that every year! This year also seems to have flown but what a year it’s been, some years are better than others and most have a mixture of everything, good and bad, happy and sad. This has been a good year on the whole, starting off with a gorgeous new grandson – feels like he’s been here forever now, I can’t imagine life without him. My youngest daughter’s wedding, a lovely new son-in-law and finally got my book published. I was overwhelmed by the outpouring of love and friendship throughout this year and I hope that in some small way I have made other people happy too. We even managed a bit of travelling and am hoping to have some more exciting adventures in 2023.

Whilst I absolutely love Christmas, I’ve never really been a New Year person. A wise man once told me 'don’t look back, always look forward', I always have had a tendency to look back at the year we have just lost. And, as if to prove a point, this week I’ve been having a 1980’s revival, I watched a DVD of ‘Songs of Praise’ where I was part of the singing congregation, I kid you not! Then last night I ended up watching the best of 1980’s Top of The Pops! It did make me smile, the big hair, the amazing outfits and the fantastic music, happy days! – So not really stopped looking back.

This year I have decided not to make any of the usual New Year’s resolutions like lose weight, exercise more, clear the clutter etc., do we tend to choose the same ones every year? I know I do, and we often tend to set ourselves up for failure with unrealistic goals. So, this year I’m going to concentrate on gratitude and just do more of what gives me joy, spend time with the people that bring me happiness and laughter. I am intending to do more writing and my aim is to write something every day, even if only a sentence or even a word I particularly like. As always, I’ll let you know how it works out.

The biggest lesson I’ve learnt this year is to be present - to go with the flow more, capture the moments and make them into memories. Looking back at my blog last year this was one of my intentions, so I’m pleased with that.

So, Happy 2023 mes amis – may it bring you love and laughter and all that your heart desires.

Be gentle with yourself!

Much love, as always

Janet
